The health crisis caused by the COVID19 pandemic has taken hold in France. And many companies, groups, institutions, associations and individuals are taking part in the national effort to help implement sustainable solutions to the epidemic. Whether it’s in biotechnology, with research into rapid screening, in the manufacture of hydroalcoholic gel, or in the manufacture of reusable and thermoformable FFP2 masks, or sanitary equipment, YesMyPatent by Touroude & Associates is proud to be in charge of the IP of these innovative and committed companies.
The patented EasyCov screening test
In the wake of President Emmanuel Macron’s second speech on the Coronavirus pandemic, decontamination is on everyone’s lips. So is the government’s promise to carry out 500,000 screenings a week.
To deal with the crisis, a number of entities have joined forces to find solutions to the various problems generated by the virus.
One such initiative is a French consortium involving CNRS scientists working at the Sys2diag laboratory, biotech SkillCell and the Vogo company.
Skillcell, a subsidiary of the Alcen group, is a Montpellier-based company specializing in the design and manufacture of health, agri-food and environmental tests. Skillcell has developed the first urine test for diabetes, as well as tests to verify the presence of glyphosate in food.
By joining forces, the EasyCov screening test was born, and is the subject of patent application EP20166524. EasyCov is a simple COVID19 screening test, requiring no heavy equipment. It consists of a saliva sample placed with reagents at 65°C for 30 minutes. Caregivers can then read the result with the naked eye. A clinical study to test the performance of the new EasyCov test was launched on April 11.
Distribution of the tests to healthcare staff is scheduled for early May.
TRONICO, the MakAir
TRONICO is another ALCEN Group company committed to the fight against COVID19.
Tronico specializes in the design, industrialization and manufacture of electronics-dominated products for markets such as aerospace, biotechnology, energy, medical, etc…
Since the beginning of the health crisis affecting the world, Tronico, like most ALCEN Group subsidiaries, has been involved in the fight against the pandemic. A consortium of leading French companies has responded to the call from hospitals to meet the considerable equipment needs of intensive care units. Tronico has joined forces with Makers for Life, and companies such as Renault, Legrand, SEB, Michelin and Altran, as well as public bodies such as the Pays de la Loire and Auvergne Rhône Alpes regions. And as of March 16, 2020, the consortium has been working on the MakAir, an artificial respirator dedicated exclusively to the treatment of CODIV19.
Skoon Handle, the self-cleaning handle
According to a study by lesaviezvous.net, 62% of men and 40% of women in Europe don’t wash their hands after using the toilet.
Philippe Chaussard, an engineer, and Aurélien Vauquelin, a doctor in mechatronics, have found a solution to the proliferation of germs on door handles. They named their invention the Skoon Handle and asked YesMyPatent to manage their industrial property.
It’s a self-cleaning handle that contains a degreasing and disinfecting cleaner, and activates automatically every time the handle is lowered.
A patented innovation that is extremely useful in businesses, hotels and communities, and which is being widely promoted in the current pandemic period to prevent the spread of germs and viruses.
Cosmetic Valley, the cosmetics industry stands up to the virus
The French cosmetics and perfumery cluster, of which YesMyPatent is an active member, is making a major contribution to the collective effort during this period of health crisis.
Opening up its networking platform to non-cluster members, webinars and conferences, Cosmetic Valley has launched a call to the entire cosmetics industry to produce, package and distribute hydroalcoholic gel.
Many industry players have responded to this call to counter the spread of the virus.
Gendarmerie Nationale innovations also mobilized
Lab’UNIC is the projectable DNA analysis laboratory patented by the Gendarmerie Nationale, for whom YesMyPatent by Touroude & Associates has been in charge of IP for over 4 years.
The system, which was installed at the Garches hospital (92) at the beginning of April, was welcomed by French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner. The mobile laboratory, renowned for its innovative DNA analysis techniques, is normally deployed at crime scenes and terrorist attacks.
However, since April1, the Gendarmerie Nationale’s mobile laboratory has been busy with a completely different mission. In partnership with the AP-HP, Lab’UNIC is in charge of COVID19 testing, from the parking lot of the Hauts-de-Seine hospital.
The mobile laboratory can screen 500 to 1,000 people a day and provide test results in less than 4 hours. The laboratory will play an essential role in decontamination, to help with mass screening.
