FAQ : What is a fintech?

A catchword for “finance” and “technology”, fintech refers to companies – mainly startups– that use new technologies to offer financial services with a fresh approach.

Fintechs are innovative companies offering a different approach to what is already available. The advent of technologies such as mobile applications and SAAS platforms has encouraged the development of fintechs.

In particular, they are developing in the fields of :

  • the bank,
  • insurance,
  • wealth management,
  • investment,
  • etc.

Their innovations are the subject of industrial property strategies, in particular by obtaining patents for applications, software or processes usingartificial intelligence. In this way, fintechs create products that are as much B2B (for professionals) as B2C (for consumers and individuals). They are attractive for their ease of use and the simplification of procedures compared with traditional players in the financial sector.
