Article 42bis of the PACTE bill proposed a new French patent, much stricter than the current one, with stricter criteria for novelty and inventive step. Indeed, insiders sometimes consider French patents to be too easy to obtain, in contrast to European patents, for which half of all applications are rejected. French patents are therefore less highly regarded, particularly by investors, due to the fact that they are less attractive internationally.
